Snow flake cookie pops

I love baking cookies and have really gotten into the holiday spirit this year. These are some of the cookie pops I made yesterday. I will post more cookies as I make them/remember to take pictures before giving them away.

Habitat For Humanity

A while ago grandma asked me if I would be willing to make a cake to donate to a Habitat event she was helping out it. The cake was a basic yellow cake with buttercream and covered in fondant. You can't tell by the picture but the cake is 19x13 and took 3 lbs of fondant to cover it.
It took a lot longer than I was thinking it would but I am happy with how it turned out

Kate's birthday cake

Kate is one of the awesome 12 kids I have the pleasure of babysitting. For her birthday this year she decided she wanted to celebrate at a horse farm, so when it came to the cake we decided to have horses on it as well. The cake is self is chocolate with vanilla butter cream. The cake is covered in fondant, the details are also fondant with some pearl dust.

Jane's first art show

I have known Jane and Howard for a few years now. Howard is an awesome sculptor you can see his amazing wood work here.
His wife, Jane, has really gotten into photography lately and had her first show recently. We are really excited to get some of her prints to decorate the second bedroom with.
Howard requested a simple yellow cake with chocolate butter cream. The details are fondant.

Mom's cupcakes

Mom became an US Citizen a couple weeks ago! We are really excited and of course had to celebrate. I decided to go against going a big flag cake as she doesn't like fondant and made these cupcakes instead. This was one of 3 projects I had that weekend.

Pirate Cake!!

For Erin's speed dating company Halloween Party she was planning on making a 3 tier cake. With everything else she had to do I offered to help out. This cake was a lot of fun to make! The bottom tier is 3 layers of dark chocolate , the second tier in yellow cake, the top tier is alternating layers of chocolate and yellow cake all with butter cream. All 3 tiers are covered in fondant, the big skull is gum paste. The coins and swords are plastic which Erin had already purchased.

Baby shower/marathon cake

This cake was for a joint baby shower/ pre Nike's women's marathon party.
The cake is self was chocolate with vanilla/almond butter cream, covered in fondant, the little details on the side are gum paste.

basketball birthday

Reed told his mom Friday morning he wanted a cake for his sleepover Saturday. I don't usually do cakes this last minute, but as it was a simple cake and I really enjoyed working on both of the cakes for his sisters in the past I decided I could pull it off. Reed really enjoyed his cake and reequested a very similar cake for his actual birthday a few days later.
Both cakes were yellow cake with butter cream icing, filling and details.

There's a party in my tummy...

So yummy, so yummy! you must watch this video
I haven't seen too many episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba but I love the episode in where they talk about eating fruits and veggies. These cupcakes were made for the little girl I made the Minnie Mouse cupcakes for last year. The cupcakes are chocolate, filled and iced with butter cream. Details are fondant and gumpaste. To stay true to the character colors I hand colored all the fondant. These were much more time consuming than I expected but I am really happy with how they turned out and hope to get to make more of them in the future!

David's Birthday cake

David loves icecream cake. This year once again he asked me to make one. I had to keep the decorations simple as the cake starts to melt pretty quickly and I had to put it together in a couple minutes. The cake is mom's favorite, flour-less chocolate cake, the ice cream is drumstick, iced with whipped cream. Decorations are fondant and butter cream.

Carolina themed birthday cake

This cake was made for two Carolina and chocolate fans. The cake it self is a chocolate flour-less cake, very dense and rich but really yummy, with chocolate butter cream.
The decorations are fondant.

second annual Christmas in July

This year we went with a beach/tropical theme for our Christmas in July party. So, I decided to stick to the theme and make tan snow man cupcakes. They are redvelvet with butter cream icing, one of Justin's favorite combinations.

Logan's birthday

Thanks Lisa for the picture! Logan is one of the leaders of our small group. I talked to his lovely wife Lisa who said he likes strawberry cake. So, this was a my gift to Logan, strawberry cake with chocolate butter cream.

Brasil :)

Mom's birthday was a couple weeks ago right before we went on our road trip so we got to celebrate it this past weekend. (I did make her request: guiness cupcakes with bailey's icing, on her actual birthday) As the world cup has finally started it was an easy decision to make a Brasilian flag cake! The first Brasil game isn't until this afternoon but we'll celebrate soccer all month long! The cake it self was a buttermilk cake with butter cream icing. This is the first cake out of a new cook book I got. I plan on baking my way through the whole cook book but I will post about that on my other blog: http://larissasnewexperiences.blogspot.com/
Yes, I did count all the stars, they are purposely different sizes and as close to in the right location and I could get.

Pool party

Last year I got to make treats for a tea party. This week I was asked to make cupcakes for a pool party for her sister. Macy doesn't like fondant so it was all butter cream. She wanted beach balls to match the ones she got for the party.

I also made a small cake for the family celebration. She requested all butter cream, yellow cake with yellow stars and turquoise roses. I hadn't made butter cream roses in a while so this was fun to make!

LOST!!

Last night was the series finale of LOST, which left all of use wondering that the heck just happened ?!? Not that I was expecting to have all my questions answered... Anyway, we had a couple people over to watch the finale so, of course I couldn't resist and decided to make some cupcakes. I didn't want to use the Dharma symbol as Dharma wasn't such a huge part of this season but I still wanted to have some thing related to the Dharma initiative. So these are the cupcakes I came up with:

Bird Baby shower cake

This is the first official Cakes by Lala order! The top layer is strawberry, made with fresh picked local berries, the bottom layer is almond. Both filled and covered with chocolate butter cream and fondant details. It was made to match both the invites and the plates. It turned out really cute! And most importantly I am told it was really tasty.

This was the first time I did a fondant covered base. It tied in the vines from the invites nicely. It was also a good way to tie in a little more of the blueish teal from the plates.

Playing with the cricut cake!

I haven't had too much free time lately to play with my cricut cake machine but this is a cake I did last week for fun. It wasn't anyone's birthday but I wanted to see how the font worked.
So far I am really enjoying playing with it but I still have a lot to learn
