As with previous years Lili knew exactly what she wanted. This year it was a pink princess castle. She requested strawberry cake, a crown and fondant. You can't tell from the picture but the whole thing was covered in edible glitter for my favorite girly girl :) Personally, I am not a huge fan of pink but, I enjoyed this cake as I knew this is what she wanted.

Hello Kitty Cake
Ladybug Cake
The past three years Eva has had very detailed descriptions of what she wanted for her birthday cakes. This year she decided she wanted a simple cake. She requested a pink ladybug. Chocolate cake and mostly buttercream. She doesn't like fondant but said it was ok if the spots were fondant. I really like how it turned out. I hadn't decorated in a while and it reminded me once again how much I enjoy it!

Primary color cupcakes
I am really happy with how these turned out! The birthday party didn't have a theme, just primary colors. So, we decided to go with the kids initials for the design. The birthday girl loves pink so hers was the pink one. I always have fun making Chloe's birthday cupcakes last year I made the yo gabba gabba cupcakes and the year before it was Minnie

Daisies!!
This cake was a fun challenge. The cake is chocolate, with raspberry butter cream filling. Which meant I made raspberry preserves for the first time!
I took a bunch of pictures of the cake with my new camera than deleted them all thinking I had already uploaded them :(

cupcakes, cupcakes and more cupcakes!
A while back I had the pleasure of making Karen and Mike's wedding cake. Karen's brother recently got married out of state and they had a reception in Winston this past weekend. This time around I got to make 10 dozen cupcakes. 2 dozens of each chocolate with chocolate butter cream, chocolate with vanilla butter cream, vanilla with chocolate butter cream, vanilla with vanilla butter cream, 1 dozen red velvet with vanilla butter cream and 1 dozen red velvet with chocolate butter cream, all filled with vanilla butter cream.
Here are some pictures:

Master Dater 1st anniversarry
For Erin's company Master Dater first anniversary they had a big party at Rum Runners.
The top and bottom tier of the cake are chocolate, middle tier is vanilla all with vanilla/almond butter cream, covered in fondant. This cake was my first big project since Jack was born and it made me realize how much I enjoy cake decorating :)

Cobra Kai
For Naoshi's birhtday his wife asked me to make a Karate Kid inspired cake. I don't know much about at all about Karate Kid but my husband says the Cobra Kai were the bad guys. The cake it self is a 14in yellow cake, chocolate butter cream with fondant details. The symbol took me a good while to make but I am happy with how it turned out :)
Baby shower!
Last week mom threw us our final baby shower! This was the third shower we had but the only one I was allowed to make things for. Mostly, because I just told mom I was making a cake and just showed up with the cookies and helped out with the traditional Brazilian brigadeiros and beijinhos. The shower was a lot of fun and we can't wait for baby to get here!

Movies/Up cake
For Elsa's 5th birthday she had a birthday party at the Varsity theater which will let you bring in any movie you want to see. She picked up. So this is what we came up with to tie in the movie theater theme as well as the movie. The cake is a yellow/chocolate marble with almond butter cream. Details are fondant and gum paste. This was a lot of fun to make, I was afraid the balloons were going to break but they worked well.

Bunnies, Carrots, Dora, Diego and boots!
For Charlotte's 4th birthday she had several requests: Dora, Diego, Boots, bunnies and carrots!
After talking to Charlotte's mom we decided to go with the bunnies and carrots on chocolate cupcakes and a strawberry cake with the others.

Lena's birthday
For Lena's birthday instead of having a typical birthday party so decided she wanted to go to a movie and lunch with some friends. She requested chocolate cupcakes, with chocolate icing and pink flowers and well as pink and red cookie pops with her friends' names on them.
I enjoy making cookie pops! This time we decided to go with fondant instead of royal icing.
These would be fun for valentines! I may end up making some if my other idea for valentines doesn't work out.

Baby shower cake
Yesterday we had a babyshower for 2 of the couples in our small group that are expecting. The color scheme was green, yellow and purple so I wanted the cake to have those colors.
The cake is a yummy buttermilk cake with vanilla/almond butter cream. The cake is covered with and all details are fondant.

Tabitha's princess castle
For Tabitha's 3rd birthday she wanted a princess castle.
Both tiers (8in and 12in) are chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream. She's not a fan of fondant so it's mostly butter cream with the details in fondant. The cobber stones are gumpaste/fondant mix so it would keep it shape, the little white flowers are royal icing. The princesses are from Toys R us as I didn't want to attempt to make 5 princesses out of gum paste.
In the future I would love to try out a castle covered in fondant but I am happy with how it turned out and she loved it so that's all that really matters :)

Princess Bear
For Isabelle's 5th birthday she had a party at build-a-bear. She requested a strawberry cake with chocolate icing and that the bear wear a crown and purple dress.
It's not often that I do cakes with the basic star tip, but she didn't want fondant. I hadn't done a bear before but I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
