Snowflake cake :)

I wanted to try something new for Siegrid's cake. I decided to do a chocolate cake with beijinho, a Brazilian coconut fudge candy, for the filling. It's my first time covering a cake in ganache. The snowflakes are fondant. It was super yummy!

White and Gold birthday cake

I broke a lot of my own rules on this cake. I don't usually decorate cakes other people make, but for this one I made an exception. The birthday girl requested a white cake with gold details and left the design up to me. I love how the flowers turned out. I think this design would work for an anniversary or wedding as well.

lots of cupcakes

Justin's cousin wanted to order cupcakes to celebrate her best friend's birthday. She decided she wanted the cupcakes to celebrate a lot of his interests. One dozen blue velvet, one dozen carrot cupcakes. All with custom fondant toppers.

Eva's 7th birthday, purple flower cake

I have known Eva since she was 15 months old. The first cake I made for her was for her 3rd birthday, while I was taking Wilton classes. She always has a very specific idea of what she wants her cakes to look like. She doesn't like fondant, but decided that fondant details were ok :)

Orange ruffle flower cake

I have really been enjoying playing around with gum paste flowers. I made this one for a friend's birthday. It's chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream, her favorite combination. She does a lot of paintings in yellow, orange and green so that's why I picked this color combination.

Harry Potter 7th Birthday

This cake was fun and a challenge! It was a challenge, because I have never read or watched any Harry Potter. So, I turned to google searches to get ideas for this cake. I am really happy with how it turned out :)

Grey and yellow bird cake

I love the grey and yellow color scheme! So, I loved working on this cake. I was giving several pictures of cakes to work with and ended up mixing and matching ideas to get to the final design.

Ruffle flowers cake

I am far from girly, the only pink you will find in my closet is the pink in my Dr. Seuss's converses. But, I love DIY projects and anything crafty! I am also a huge fan of black and grey. For this project I decided to play around with the idea of fabric flowers. I love the colors! I am thinking I may do a tiered version of this and add more yellow :)

The cake is actually a styrofoam dummy, so I made cupcakes too:

I am a huge fan of chocolate, caramel and pecans. So, that's what I played around with for these cupcakes and mini cupcakes. They are a deep chocolate cupcake with pecans mixed in through out and pieces of caramel. Pretty yummy! Very brownie like :)

Marvel superhero cupcakes :)

The original plan was to do a 3 tier cake, unfortunately, we all got sick this past week and didn't have the time/energy to do a big cake. Friday night I was felling a little better so I decided to adjust the design into cupcakes (with the birthday boy's help). Justin decided you cannot mix DC and Marvel characters, so he picked Wolverine, Spiderman and Ironman.
Fondant details, Ironman's gold was sprayed with Wilton's gold spray, the blue
reactor piece was covered in silver/blue pearl dust.
I am hoping next year to get to do the 3 tier super hero cake, or I may wait till his 30th birthday.

21st Air Force Glider cake

This was a fun challenge! I was asked to make a Glider cake for a 21st birthday celebration. Mike is in the Air Force Academy and flies gliders. This is the original glider he first started with. Mom didn't remember what the number of the glider was, so we decided to go with 21.
The glider was a challenge with the crazy heat and humidity we have had the past couple days, but I am happy with how it turned out.
I also really like how the mountains came out. You can't tell, but the snow caps have a light dusting of silver pearl dust to add a little shine to them.
